Meet the Speaker: Michael Ermann
Since joining the faculty in 2001, Michael Ermann has taught design studio, building systems, and advanced acoustics courses at Virginia Tech, where he is a tenured full professor and former program chairman. His research has primarily focused on building acoustics, and he authored the book Architectural Acoustics Illustrated (Wiley).
He’s won awards for acoustics research, building product design, architectural design, architectural education, and business. He has taught 50 AIA in-person seminars and his online course has a paid enrollment of 30,000+ architects studying for licensure (and 1000+ architecture firms enrolled for their employees’ course access). He hosts a weekly Zoom call with practicing architects that averages 200 in live attendance (and thousands more in replay).
