CAD to BIM Conversion for a Construction Project in Scarborough, Canada

Brief Overview
We collaborated with a construction company to perform a CAD to BIM conversion for a project involving a two-floor building with a roof and basement. Our scope included creating a coordinated LOD 300 BIM model for architecture, structure, and MEPF disciplines based on preliminary drawings. The goal was to generate construction documents and extract quantities from the model.
Challenges/Requirements
Material Assignment
Quantity Extraction

Deliverables
We provided a detailed and coordinated LOD 300 3D model for the Architecture, Structure, and MEPF disciplines, ensuring accurate representation and coordination of the project elements.
We generated construction documents directly from the BIM model, including plans, sections, elevations, and details, to support the construction process and facilitate clear communication among the project team.
Our team extracted quantity from the model and associated the extracted quantities with the corresponding materials, enabling accurate cost estimation and streamlined procurement processes.
Outcomes / Benefits
Time savings
Cost efficiency
