3D BIM and 4D Simulation

The first commercial BIM product was introduced in the market as Archi CAD in 1987. This industry has grown and diversified since and has revolutionized the construction industry all across the globe. All of the major countries in the world today adopt BIM as a solution for all of their AEC requirements.

BIM is now mandated across all of the government-procured construction projects in several countries such as the Scandinavian countries, the UK, France, and some parts of the USA.

Most of the developing countries were slow to embrace the change, but they gradually did catch up with the rest of the world. India is one of the fastest-growing construction industries in the world today.

We have quickly adopted BIM for most of our residential projects. The infrastructure industry remains the lowest-adopting sector in our country, but the ever-growing population calls for faster and more efficient infrastructural development.

India is likely to surpass China, in terms of population, by the year 2025. We are also one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. This calls for the development of improved infrastructure, renovations, and refurbishments. BIM adoption could help with the faster execution of these projects.

The Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway is one of the first centrally-procured infrastructural projects in India. A lot more indeed needs to be done in this regard, but BIM adoption for the development of this expressway is a step forward in the right direction.

The Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway is a 701 km long expressway connecting Mumbai and the winter capital of Maharashtra, Nagpur. This expressway will cut travel time between the two capitals to 8 hours. We, the Virtual Building Studio, were assigned an infrastructural road development project for this expressway.

The length of the road was approximately 42.5 km. We provided 3D BIM services for the virtual monitoring of the on-site construction activities. We also provided 4D BIM simulation services to extract accurate quantities, and for cost estimation. The input data was in the form of CAD and PDF.

It took about 9 months for a team of 20 to deliver this project. It can be time-consuming and tedious as multiple layers such as the PQC, the GSB, and the DLC had to be modeled along with several bridges, culverts, and connecting roads to nearby tehsils and villages.

We also used Dynamo scripting for automating certain tasks that Revit could not perform. We delivered our project on-time, and our clients were pleased with our efficiency and determination. The expressway is still under construction as some of the land acquisition deals are still underway, but it would be ready by the end of 2020.

This project highlights the exemplary conduct of our employees who have been instrumental in providing our clients with cost-effective and time-bound BIM services.

Our team has been consistently working towards ensuring on-time project delivery and quality outputs. We have successfully handled a wide range of BIM projects with varying complexities for our clients in the USA, the UK, Singapore, Australia, and the UAE.

We are committed to providing our clients with the best of the opportunities that ensure their growth and success. We have been working towards establishing a firm foothold in the BIM industry, and our team of experts is leading the way.
