MEPF Model with LOD 400, Shop Drawings, Clash Detection, and Coordination for a USA-based Defense Institute

Brief Overview
Virtual Building Studio (VBS), specializing in Building Information Modeling (BIM), was contracted to assist the engineering team of a USA-based defense institute. The project involved developing LOD 400 3D models for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Firefighting (MEPF) disciplines. VBS also facilitated clash detection and coordination through online meetings and produced coordinated shop drawings and fabrication drawings for contractors.
Challenges/Requirements
LOD 400 Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Firefighting modeling
Inter-Discipline Clash Detection and Coordination
Shop Drawing
Fabrication Drawing

Deliverables
VBS developed detailed 3D models for each MEPF discipline, ensuring that the level of detail met LOD 400 standards.
VBS conducted online coordination meetings to identify clashes among different MEPF systems and facilitated their resolution.
VBS produced comprehensive shop drawings, providing contractors with accurate and detailed information for construction.
VBS created fabrication drawings that met the specific needs and requirements of the client.
Outcomes / Benefits
Enhanced coordination and clash resolution
Improved construction efficiency
Cost savings
Enhanced project visualization
A staggering 355 million women and girls are still waiting for a toilet in India (WaterAid, 2017). Women from low-income communities face the brunt of this gap as they compromise their safety each day to carry out their daily sanitation routine.
